5 Things I’m Loving This Month | August Faves

08/14/2021

For the past few years, I have been an avid YouTube watcher. I gave up cable a long time ago once I realized I was much more interested in watching travel vlogs, home décor videos, and clean-with-me montages. Hands down, some of my favorite types of videos to watch on YouTube right now are “Favorites” videos, where YouTubers will come on camera to chat about the products they’re loving for the month/week/season. After watching a few recently, I thought it would be fun to recap my own favorites here on the blog. So, without further ado, here are my current August favorites.

1 | Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche

Ever since I got laid off from my job a few months ago, I’ve been paying much more attention to my finances. Running a household on a significantly reduced budget has made me realize that there were some areas of our finances that definitely needed to be whipped into shape and/or strengthened. “Get Good with Money” has been a really good resource to help us get back on track.

Tiffany is so relatable and really knows her stuff! The principles she shares are easy to understand and the strategies she gives you make implementing them fairly easy. This book is funny, practical, and truly motivating. I’m already putting some of the principles into practice and I’m only on chapter five!

2 | Kate Spade One in a Million Initial Pendant Necklace

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but when I find something I like, I wear it OUT. This 12k-gold plated initial pendant necklace from Kate Spade is so simple, pretty, and classy. It goes well with just about EVERY outfit. Simple enough to wear with a casual outfit, but chic enough to pair with something fancy. What’s even better, the back of the pendant is engraved with the words ‘one in a million’ to affirm your personal worth. How sweet is that?!

3 | Derma E Vitamin C Intense Night Cream

Derma E is a brand that is almost always part of my skincare routine in one way or another. Whether it’s stretch mark cream, serums, an eye cream, or face moisturizer, this is one brand that I know I can count on to give me good results and also be good to the planet. Derma E products are 100% Vegan, GMO-Free, Cruelty-Free, and free of parabens, sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oils, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfates. My favorite product from them right now is the Vitamin C Intense Night Cream. The name is accurate – this night cream delivers intense moisture to my skin.

As the final step to my nighttime skincare routine, I add a little of this – and I do mean a LITTLE because a small amount goes a LONG way – and when I wake up in the morning my skin is so soft and hydrated. I had been using this night cream for over a year before switching up last month (I still don’t know why I switched it up) but now I’m back and my skin is rejoicing.

4 | Watercolor “Blessed” Notebook

I like pretty things. Pretty journals and mugs, specifically, are my weakness. When I saw this watercolor notebook in Hobby Lobby, I had to bring it home with me. I’ve recently begun to check in on myself more regularly via journaling, and this just seemed like the perfect notebook for my new soul care sessions.

5 | Rifle Paper Co. Monogram Mug

I mentioned that I have a weak spot for pretty mugs, right? My cabinet is FULL of cute coffee mugs, but this Rifle Paper Co. Garden Party Monogram Mug from Anthropologie is the most beautiful mug in my collection and I have been reaching for it every day this month. Is it just me, or does coffee taste better when you drink it from a nice mug?

Well, that’s it for my August favorites. I’d love to hear what you’re loving this month too. Meet me in the comments below and drop a few of your own faves!

Postpartum shedding done took my edges OUT. I was Postpartum shedding done took my edges OUT. I was expecting this since this isn’t my first rodeo, but it’s still annoying 😒.

Now that my go to lazy girl hair style (a puff) is out of the question, I’ve had to learn how to master styles that will hide my hairline until the hair grows back.

If you’ve been here a while you know I don’t know how to do hair and twist outs and me do not mix, but I think I finally got it! How do you think I did??

Also, please drop your tips for simple styles to do that will hide a thinning hairline. I’m taking all the help I can get 😩
Every verse here is special to me, but this week Z Every verse here is special to me, but this week Zephaniah 3:17 hits home the most.

I know how excited I get when I think about my God, but to think He gets just as excited about me is still something I can’t fully wrap my brain around. I love knowing that God - as perfect as He is and as powerful as He is - has a soft spot for little old imperfect me.

This week I’m praying for everyone who comes across this post. May the love of God ease your every fear and insecurity, and may you rest content and at peace in His overflowing love towards you ♥️
I’ve been posting a daily Bible verse in my stor I’ve been posting a daily Bible verse in my stories for almost 3 years now. I recently took a (long) break and decided to bring the daily verses back as a weekly post on my feed.

The goal is to let the word “live” permanently on my page so you can come back to verses that resonate with you over and over again.

One of the best things you can do for your relationship with God is to spend time in His word. Don’t just be satisfied with these snippets. Open up your Bible (or the Bible app) and read the full chapter for more context and clarity. That’s how we get to know God better!

I pray these verses encourage and strengthen you as you take on this new week. Praying for you and cheering you on, friend ♥️

My number one laundry must-have is this baby laund My number one laundry must-have is this baby laundry stain remover spray. Listen, @dreft did their thing when they made this. It has been holding me down since Toni Noelle was a newborn.

I use this spray on literally EVERYTHING. It’s gotten spaghetti sauce stains out of my rugs. Coffee stains out of my white settee and so much more.

I also really like that it’s safe to use around the kids. It’s made of plant-based ingredients and doesn’t contain any dyes so I don’t have to worry about it harming them.

Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle (or 2). I included a link to it in my bio ♥️

Also, this is not sponsored. I wasn’t paid for this or sent any products for free. I been spending my own money on this for years and think you’ll love it like I do!
I shared this message in a caption of a reel last I shared this message in a caption of a reel last year and after adding baby number 2 to the tribe a few months ago, I’m standing ten toes down on it.

As seasons change splitting the work looks different than before, but it still needs to happen. I couldn’t imagine working all day and my partner not help me maintain the place we both call home or take care of the kids he helped me make.

Single ladies, have this conversation as early in the relationship as you can so you both have the right expectations going into marriage. Also take stock of his cleaning habits beforehand so you won’t be caught off guard later I’m fortunate because I didn’t marry a lazy man. He was on top of keeping his bachelor pad in order way before I came into the picture 🙌🏾

Now if you’re already in a relationship and struggling in this area, now would be a great time to lovingly but firmly set some boundaries, ask for some help, then get to delegating. God tells you to be your home’s manager, not a workhorse ♥️

P.S.
Now is a great time to remind you to grab the free prayer guide: “14 Days of Declaring Scriptures Over Your Husband”. It’s linked in my bio under “Free Guides”
