This year was the first time I did a fall tablescape and I had so much fun putting it all together. Fall is easily my favorite season. From the cooler weather, cute fashion, cozy knit blankets, Bath & Body Works fall candles, and comfort meals that stick to your ribs, I am here for ALL OF IT. My goal for my home is to always create a space that is comfortable and inviting, so it was only right that I pulled some fall vibes into our dining nook.
Coming up with the theme
Since this was my first time styling a formal table setting, I decided to pull inspiration from online. I searched “fall table décor” and “fall tablescape” on Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok and took note of what resonated with me the most to help me develop a theme and color scheme.
I normally gravitate towards bright and airy décor, and there is usually a lot of white and light-colored fabrics in my home. This time around I wanted to switch things up and incorporate a darker and more sophisticated vibe with a touch of glam.
The Place Setting
As I was scrolling through social media and Pinterest for inspiration, I fell in love with using woven placemats and chargers. To give my table a more elevated look and tie in a darker color palette, I chose a seagrass charger with a black border. I then topped the charger with a black dinner plate and salad plate from Thyme and Table. These look so sleek and elegant in person but were very affordable.
The napkins
The napkins were actually the hardest thing to decide on for my fall tablescape. I didn’t want anything too busy, but I also didn’t want anything too basic. These hemstitched cloth napkins from At Home were the perfect balance, and only $6.99 for a set of 4! I opted out of napkin rings and instead tied a knot in the middle to make a bow.
The Glam
To add an element of glam to the table I chose matte gold utensils that I got from Amazon. I also repurposed this glittery vase that I bought from HomeGoods a few years ago.
The Centerpiece
For the center of the table, I wanted something simple, but eye-catching. I paired the glittery vase with faux Baby’s Breath stems I found on Amazon. I used two bundles to make the bouquet full. Since the plates were dark, I used these florals to bring in some lighter, warmer fall tones to balance out the table.
Create your own fall tablescape
If you’re looking to create your own fall tablescape, my advice is to have fun with it! Browse online or even in stores for inspiration to create your theme then look for pieces in your budget (most of the items I purchased were under $30!). Don’t feel pressured to make your table look like anyone else’s. For example, most tablescapes I saw online also included glasses or mugs on the table. I opted not to include any drinkware since my baby likes to snatch things off the table when we’re feeding him. I don’t want to have to worry about glass flying and breaking because the baby was quicker than me.
If you like how I my table came together, here is everything I purchased to style my table (minus the vase since it is out of stock. I have included a similar one). Click the link or photo of the products to shop.
