One of the best things about having a daughter is getting to relive my childhood while helping her enjoy hers. Being a stay-at-home mom for most of the year gave me the opportunity to really spend quality time with Toni like I hadn’t been able to before. That meant more cuddles, more midday movie marathons, and more playdates!

One of our favorite brands to play with is Our Generation Toys. Their toys were some of the first I purchased for Toni, and they have been a staple for every birthday, Christmas, and “just-because” present. That’s why we were so excited when they sent us over a few toys from their collection!
Toni is really into pretend play right now (as is just about every little girl her age) so she gravitates towards toys that allow her to mimic what she sees me do around the house. From “bathing” her dolls to tucking them into their beds, she is always acting out what she sees mommy do. The Our Generation Sweet Kitchen Set with Play Food Accessories and the Jenny Baking Doll were perfect for her because one of her favorite things to do is help me out in the kitchen. She had so much fun baking cupcakes, frying steak on her stove, and serving me food on her little plates. This toy quickly became her favorite, and now three weeks later she is STILL gravitating towards it.
As for me, I loved that this little kitchen was so well-stocked and realistic. It had everything from a carton of eggs, to a dish sponge and soap, to dishes and utensils. I think I had more fun than Toni discovering all of the little items they included. I’m also very grateful she now has a toy that helps her live out her culinary dreams without actually having to mess with my nice pots and pans. It’s a win for both of us.
We had so much fun playing together (outside of one little meltdown from Toni because I wasn’t “holding the cupcakes right”). It’s fun seeing Toni get so immersed in her imagination as she creates stories with the toys she’s playing with. If you’ve never tried Our Generation toys, I highly recommend you give them a try. They can be found online or in-store at Target.
